What started off as a hobby, is now a fully fledged craft beer microbrewery in Shaka's Head on the Dolphin Coast just outside Ballito. We are currently producing nine international favorites. Ursula and her husband Gary Wilby left the corporate world to start The Great Railroad Brewing Company, (now renamed to Ballito Brewing Company) which they opened in August 2015.

“We have always been keen home brewers and decided to take a risk and turn our passion into a business.” said Gary, who is an analytical chemist. “We have had some fun setting up this brewery, especially when it came to figuring out the Chinese instruction manuals, which were not well translated into English.” The brewery is now working at full pace and Gary said they can make any style beer on demand.

We loved the tour. It’s interesting to find out about people’s passions and share their success stories .
The brewery is in an office block but the beer is cold and tastes good , I was surprised about the after taste , very smooth , make sure you out this in your list of things to do !!

An absolutely amazing Beer Tour that The Great Railway Brewing Co gave us this past Saturday that is a wonderful 1.5 hour beer tour in Ballito. The Brewery owners, Gary and his wife Ursula gave us the most amazing insight on their beer making process and how they started this wonder establishment, we tasted the most amazing beers. I was absolutely taken by their Dingaan Premium Lager. I would highly recommend this place for all the beer lovers.

ABSOLUTLY FANTASTIC
We visited the brewery while staying at the Fairmont hotel nearby.It is a only a tiny brewery but the tour was fantastic.Gary is very informative and obviously has alot of passion for his beer. It is great value for money and you get plenty to tast and also get beers to bake away with you or drink there and then like we did. Ursula made it easy to book onto the tour as this needs to be done in advance.We all had a great time and highly recommend the tour. We just wish that more hotels, bars and resturants ect served beer as it is delisious.

WHAT A LOVELY BEER
The beer is lovely. The owners arw lovely. The smooth after tast is really suprising.
This brewery is definitely worth the tour.
It's simple, it's a factory but it's interesting and you can purchase some beers to take home, plus they give you a present after the tour is finished.
